The adventures of the old

The Hundred Year Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson (this is a translation from Swedish) is great! It’s the tale of the exploits of an old man, who escapes his old people’s home on his 100th birthday and accidentally gets embroiled with a suitcase full of money and a murderous gang. The book is told in episodes in the present, and also tells Alan’s story from youth to very, very old age. His interest in explosives leads him to meet many intriguing characters over the years, showing how he had managed to coincidentally influence world history. The book is written in a very sparse, ironic way, which reminds me of the equally (in my mind anyway) funny Catch 22. This is obviously worth a read, too!
