AS Coursework Guidance
The advice below is for the WJEC MS2 coursework unit.
In preparing your coursework you should undertake the following:
- Research – Annotated adverts, target audience identified, highlighted research from internet/books/magazines into your chosen topic
- Development of ideas – Rough drawings of logo and adverts, slogan ideas, draft adverts.
When you present your work for assessment you will hand in the following:
Pre-production (20%)
- A storyboard for a TV advertisement for your campaign. This should be presented in full colour and with detailed guidance about:
- camera movement
- movement within the shot
- duration
- sound (diegetic and non-diegetic)
- transition
Production (40%)
- Final versions of your 3 adverts (label which medium and publication they will appear as and in, e.g. magazine/FHM)
Report (40%)
The pre-production and production must be accompanied by a report of 1200 – 1600 words. This report must be completed individually and will include:
- a discussion of the most significant research findings which informed the pre-production
- a brief justification of the target audience for the production
- an evaluation of the production which highlights its strengths and weaknesses through, for example, a comparison with existing media products.
Do not:
- write about the process of construction
- make excuses about how much better you would do with more time, better equipment etc etc.
