Getting started with Tarkovsky

Those of you studying film at A2 level will be lucky enough to consider at least one film by Andrei Tarkovsky. The useful Open Culture site has an interesting series on famous directors’ first – often student – films, and it recently covered the first films of Tarkovsky. What better place to start getting to know his films than right at the beginning?

Also, don’t miss the Tarkovsky-inspired film made by Tyler Moore for his A2 film studies coursework.

Nora Ephron: mainstream feminist?

There’s been a lot written about Nora Ephron recently following her death. Many writers are keen to point out her value as a feminist role model.
